The West River Sailing Club (WRSC) recently conducted the 88th Annual Billy Heinz Regatta. This annual Labor Day weekend event includes a “Down the Bay” race from Annapolis to Galesville and two days of one design racing from the club location in West River. Participating fleets included catamarans, Albacores, Flying Scots, and Lasers. Overall, in addition to the multiple races and the brisk weather, the event included dinners on Friday and Saturday evenings and a reception for WRSC past commodores. The U. S. Coast Guard and Auxiliary provided excellent safety support on all three days.
In other news, the WRSC adult Learn to Sail program completed three sessions of the five-week program over the course of the summer. Twenty-eight sailors learned the basics utilizing the club owned Flying Scot.
