Helicopter Rescue at Sea: Learn What to Do

The U.S. Naval Academy and Marine Trades Association of Maryland are hosting their annual Safety at Sea seminar over the weekend of March 29-30. Topics cover everything from MOB rescues to hypothermia, but one of the highlights of the seminar is always a helicopter rescue. While exciting to watch, we advise all participants to pay careful attention. You never know when you're going to be the one swimming out to get in a basket.

SAIL Magazine's former senior editor Charlie Doane recently posted an epic story of his own rescue at sea while onboard a 42-foot catamaran. Charlie is about the last person I'd ever imagine needing a rescue. The video is pretty scary...makes you want to sign up for that course, doesn't it?
