In the Heart of the Sea Trailer

I know the holidays are upon us, but do not forget that the sailing movie of the year is about to open. "In the Heart of the Sea" is the epic story of the whaleship Essex, which would later become the inspiration for the novel Moby Dick.

"In 1821, a whaling ship came upon a small boat off the coast of Chile containing two deranged men surrounded by human bones that they alternately chewed and clutched to their shriveled bodies. The two were survivors of one of the most well-known marine disasters of the 19th century: the sinking of a 240-ton Nantucket whaleship by an 80-ton sperm whale." --Publisher's Weekly, reviewing the book version of  "In the Heart of the Sea."

Chris Hemsworth, the lead actor in the film, recently told Men's Health Magazine about his diet for the starvation scenes in the movie.

“We couldn’t go away for a month and get skinny, we had to do it while we were shooting. At one point, a day’s rations were a boiled egg, a couple of crackers and a celery stick. I reckon about 90% of our conversations were about our favourite foods and what we would eat when we finished the film."

The actor shared a picture from his time on set via Instagram, saying "Just tried a new diet/training program called "Lost At Sea." Wouldn't recommend it."

"In the Heart of the Sea" opens nationwide on Friday, December 11. The film is directed by Ron Howard.
