Another great weekend of sailing is on the books, with Broad Bay Sailing Association's Leo Wardrup Memorial Cape Charles Cup wrapping up on Sunday with 88 boats registered. Racing on Saturday took everyone from Little Creek to Cape Charles, with a great after party at Kings Creek Marina. On Sunday, racers headed back toward a finish off Buckroe. The two days are considered the Southern Bay's best cruising event for serious racers, and best racing event for serious cruisers. From Lin McCarthy: "Yes, it was the Leo Wardrup Memorial Cape Charles Cup weekend and, yes, both races, from Norfolk to Cape Charles and from Cape Charles to Hampton, were eventually shortened due to wind conditions that made shortening imperative to getting the fleet over the finish line by the time limit. Nevertheless, of the 88 boats entered, 69 sailed in at least one of the two races. Let it be said that a gazillion skippers, crew, family and friends attended the Saturday party at Oyster Farm Marina (Cape Charles) and many of those enjoyed the after-party party-ing in downtown Cape Charles establishments."

CRAB_Regatta_full_SS0815And don't forget: the summer is wrapping up quickly, but there's still some great sailing to be a part of.

The Boatyard Bar & Grill CRAB Regatta to benefit Chesapeake Regional Accessible Boating happens August 22, and the goal is to hit 100 boats. SpinSheet is sponsoring the Youth Participation Trophy, and North Sails is sponsoring a perpetual trophy celebrating the fleet with the greatest participation. Last year, the Harbor 20 fleet got their notice on the wall of the Boatyard Bar & Grill. Who will it be this year? Click HERE for a link to registration.

And if you're thinking of signing up for the Annapolis Labor Day Regatta, click for the registration link. This is one of the best two days of sailing, with a great, family-friendly regatta party afterward (food trucks! moon bounce!). How great is that?
