Racing Roundup: CRAB Regatta and Olivia's Team Racing Invitational

If there were words for this weekend, they were "This is August???" Holy crow we had some good sailing on the Chesapeake.

First up was the Boatyard Bar & Grill Regatta to Benefit CRAB, Chesapeake Region Accessible Boating. A total of 92 boats registered for the pursuit race, with 22 first time entries. Rendezvous was at 11 a.m. just off R2 in the Severn River, and sailors were given a 7.25-mile course (a reach to the first mark on the Eastern Shore, with a nice long run down to Thomas Point before heading upwind back to R2 and the finish). The Harbor 20s stayed closer to home with their course, finishing just off Eastport YC. All in all, it was one of the best days of 2015 to be on the water.

A bit closer in to shore, the Olivia's Team Racing Invitational was hosted by Severn Sailing Association using Club 420s donated by SSA, Annapolis YC, and the Naval Academy. On Saturday, sailors kicked off a two on two round robin under sunny skies and great breeze (which we can only assume should be credited to Olivia). On Sunday, things died down a bit, but sailors were able to get in a few more sets of three on three action.

Coming out on top were skippers Arthur Blodgett, Mike Popp, and Phillip Davis, with respective crews Julia Malton, Julia McKenna, and Caroline McNeil (full results here). Congrats to all who raced in this important, wonderful regatta.
