Harbor 20s on Luce Creek in Octoberfest Season
The newly formed Harbor 20 fleet recently enjoyed a fall sail up the Severn River pay for research paper past the U.S. NeU
Academy to Susan and Raymond Williams home on Luce Creek. The Saturday before Hurricane Sandy struck the Chesapeake Bay was a perfect day for this four-mile sail each way.
Six Harbor 20s left the sailing center at 11 a.m. Saturday morning. They sailed up the river in Viking costumes for an Octoberfest lunch at the Williams’ gorgeous home, and then sailed back to the Annapolis YC one design center in the afternoon. Once back in Annapolis we helped each other strip the boats of sails and gear in preparations for Hurricane Sandy, which arrived with heavy rain and 60 knots of wind on Monday. John and Marlene Patmore on their Main ship 30 were our escorts and made sure all the sailboats arrived safely at the docks
25 Vikings enjoyed Oktoberfest style grilled brats, beer, and more as Garth Hichens awarded best costume to:
1st place - Peter and Cathie Trogdon
2nd Place - Marino & Fulvia diMarzo
3rd Place - Ken Stephens
Today there are 13 Harbor 20s on trailers at the AYC Sailing Center and 12 have signed up for our competitive Winter Frostbiting on Sunday afternoons.
