What Are Your Sailing Plans this Upcoming Weekend? The Summer Sailstice is upon us once again. The weekend closest to the actual solstice, June 18-19 has been earmarked as the international holiday started 15 years ago by John Arndt of Latitude 38, the well-loved, San Francisco-based sailing magazine. All you have to do to be a part of it is sign up with your email address and go sailing.

Among the prizes for just going sailing one day next weekend are a free weeklong bareboat British Virgin Islands charter, a Hobie Mirage kayak, a BoatUS membership, free learning opportunities, sailing gear, winch handles, Weems & Plath instruments, a GoPro, and more.

Some activities organized on the Chesapeake:

Sailtime is doing simultaneous open houses at their 35 worldwide locations

Annapolis YC is having its 130th anniversary summer kick off on the Sailstice. J/22s will be available to members and their guests to take out at no charge.

Eastport YC is planning a raft up on Whitehall Bay.

The CRAB Cup is being hosted at AYC.

Beneteau is giving away a Helly Hansen jacket as a prize to a luck Beneteau owner participating in the Sailstice.

The Cock Island Race will be run by the Portsmouth Boat Club.
