'All is Lost' the Sailing Movie: Will You See It?

There's a new movie out by the director of 'Margin Call,' which is a great movie if you haven't seen it. 'All is Lost' is director J.C. Chandor's retelling of 'The Old Man and the Sea,' but only kinda-sorta. It's practically dialogue free and stars Robert Redford as a sailor whose boat has a collision with a shipping container in the Indian Ocean. He attempts to repair the boat (his radio is also toast), sharks circling, but as his supplies disappear and a storm gathers on the horizon, he starts to face his own mortality.

Ok, so that's the plot. Reviews are strong so far (although when was the last time Robert Redford made a flop? WAIT! 'The Horse Whisperer!' 1998.), but we watched the clip and had a few thoughts.

Um, did you not see that storm from the deck? Also, shouldn't that wrench have a tether to it? I spent 30 seconds waiting for you to drop it. And, you know, I've gone up the mast a few times AT THE DOCK and the boat rolled around more than your boat is doing IN THE OPEN OCEAN. And finally, seriously, what are the chances that he could just attach that wire and have it be all good to go, without having to clean, cut, and splice it? Oh yeah! Just plug it back in! Sailing is so fun!

Sigh. Makes me excited to see the sharks circling.
