The Annapolis to Newport Race was a success! Results are in, but we all know that there's more to a race than just the numbers. This year's race was filled with everything from dangerously high winds and storms to times with almost no breeze. These sailors truly had to be prepared for anything and everything! Our staff at SpinSheet wanted to share with you some of the great personal stories from this trip, so we asked participants to send in some pictures. We were blown away by all the exciting submissions, and we had to resist posting every single photo we received! We hope you have just as much fun looking through this gallery as we did making it. When the ripping breeze took a break, it sometimes left behind very little wind. However, you won't hear us complaining about this calmer sailing because some of the racers got a chance to snap these stunning pictures! As every sailor knows, rounding a mark can be quite an accomplishment. It means that you've successfully fought through another leg of sometimes brutal weather conditions. During the Annapolis to Newport Race, someone snapped a beautiful shot of this lighthouse while rounding their mark. Part of the fun of racing can be experiencing all of these fantastic sights landlubbers miss out on! Photo by Tom Shaw They made it - and what a cause for celebration is was! Overall, it was a fun, humbling, and worthwhile challenge. Thanks to everyone who sent in their pictures; each one is a beautiful and meaningful reminder of why all of us here at SpinSheet have a passion for being on the water.
