Catapult Clears Out Cork Week

The Volvo Cork Week is currently in action over in Cork, Ireland, and the red boat from the US is making a nice little name for herself.

Catapult, the Ker 40 owned by Marc Glimcher, managed to own Wednesday with three bullets by mere seconds in each case. Glimcher's boat had Annapolitan Geoff Ewenson onboard calling tactics. "That is the first time I have raced on a slalom course although it is an idea we have thought about back home in Maryland," he said. Slalom courses are triangular and necessitate a gybe halfway down the reaching leg. “Conventional windward lewards are more tactical but this course is all about speed, boat handling and sail selection, which is more akin to modern yachts flying asymmetric sails and it is a very exciting discipline... Racing a new course set up was very refreshing, something we all enjoyed,” Ewenson said.

Catapult is currently leading IRC1, with a six-point advantage over her nearest competitor. To keep track of results, click here.
