Hanging Out at the Marina

Our rigging expert up on jack stands getting ready for a rig inspection on one of ACB's J/24s.

I could think of 100 things I would rather have been doing on my sunny Sunday (nap, read, ride my bike) and 100 things I needed to get done (taxes, de-clutter closet, wash car)...  but once I arrived in the marina at Annapolis Sailing School last Sunday and got to work helping Annapolis Community Boating volunteers, the best I could, to drop and move masts for rig checks, rearrange boats and trailers, evaluate sail condition, sift through moldy lines and cleaning materials, I remembered why I signed up for the three-hour clean-up gig. It was fun.

I enjoy such volunteer days because I've always met cool people, some whom I may not have met otherwise, and, the best part, it brings me one step closer to getting out on the water. Plus, I have along history hanging around the marina at Annapolis Sailing School--it always feels like summer there for me, even if just the promise of summer....

Check out ACB's membership program--a guarantee of getting out on the water often and affordably with your family and/or new friends in the 2013 season.
