Norfolk to Annapolis... on a LASER!

 Robert Suhay in his Laser.

Remember Robert Suhay, the subject of Kim Couranz's article below from January? Well, he's back in action making a looong (150-mile!) Laser trip unassisted.... Here's what Kim posted today on Facebook (and see video below):

Rober is headed off for an adventure today: He's sailing from Norfolk to Annapolis. On his Laser. Yup, you read that right. On his Laser, stocked with food, beverage, GPS, and cell phone. He's tweeting along the way via @rsuhay so you can see his progress!

He chose today because the weather looked good--forecast for pleasant breeze to help push him north. Things are looking good--the NOAA Chesapeake Bay Interpretive Buoy System (CBIBS) buoys up and down the Bay are showing 8-12 knots mostly from the SEish.

(*******Note: we had changed this post at one point to reflect his goal of a 300-mile trip: Norfolk to Annapolis and back. In the end, his GPS registered 160 miles in his one-way trip. He may shoot for that 300-mile one next year!)
