A Full Boat for Sunset Sail with Beer and Oysters

The Schooner Woodwind offers beer tasting cruises throughout the season. This week's tasting is part of Annapolis Beer Week and will benefit the Oyster Recovery Program.

A sell-out crowd is ticketed to board the Schooner Windwood  this Friday to enjoy beer and oysters during a fundraising sail that's part of Annapolis Beer Week. That's exciting stuff for a first-time event! Proceeds from the evening's two-hour sunset cruise will benefit the Oyster Recovery Partnership.

The 74-foot vessel departs from Annapolis harbor, where guests will be invited to help raise the sails, steer the boat, or just sit back and relax. On this special sail, guests get to enjoy beer and oysters and learn a little bit about each.

Jonathan Reeves will be aboard to offer tastings of four brews from Port City Brewing Company. And Reeves will discuss the brewing process and explain how he got the crazy idea to brew Revival Oyster Oyster Stout with Bay oysters. Yes, the oysters really are part of the brewing process!

Brad Blymier of War Shore Oysters will handle the oyster-side of things. His company brings their farm-raised oysters from Northern Virginia to Annapolis, D.C., and Baltimore. Guests can enjoy War Shore Oyster shooters and learn about how oysters are helping to save the Bay.

The Oyster Recovery Partnership is an Annapolis-based non-profit that promotes, supports, and restores oysters for ecologic and economic purposes. They offer public outreach and education, as well as science-based research on land and in-water.

The schooner's next beer cruise open to the public is scheduled for May 7. It's a lovely way to enjoy Happy Hour, and Draft Magazine gives it a high rating among beers tasting.
