Just a day spent doing maintenance, updating software, and getting the boat ready for the next trip....
Century Club: David Klain
A quick, five-day passage from Marsh Harbour, Bahamas to Deale, MD, USA. Once again we had really perfect weather except a storm front/line of storms near the end. Sailed a broad to beam reach the first three days and used our Oxley Levante parasail for the first two days in perfect weather. All told, covered 825 nm on less than 57 gal of diesel in almost exactly five days! A great trip but certainly missing the warm Bahamas weather as we came back into the cold air and water temps of the Chesapeake....
Spent the week going from location to location with S/V Windfall while also teleworking (isn't Starlink a gamechanger?). Dodged a major storm that saw another boat drag anchor and almost hit us one night (always happens at night but fortunately good seamanship on their part and ours prevented what could have been an ugly accident. Saw several SpaceX rocket launches (the views from the Abacos are spectacular) as well as some marine life.
Spent two weeks enjoying Marsh Harbour in the Abacos while taking advantage of the opportunity to telework from the boat via Starlink. After all, even when working, a day on the water beats a day in the office!
Cruising around the Abacos with family for Spring Break. Visits to Manjack Cay, Green Turtle Cay, Treasure Cay, Marsh Harbour and Hopetown/Tahiti Beach (Elbow Cay).
An offshore transit covering almost 900 miles from Deale, MD to Marsh Harbour, Bahamas. Ideal weather window allowed us to round Cape Hattaras without delay and go offshore (east of the Gulf Stream) vice the longer, coastal route west of the Gulfstream until we got down to the Georgia/Florida area. Fast transit with a moving average of 7.1 knots achieved!
Spent the weekend doing boat maintenance, upgrades and preparations for a transit to the Bahamas in late February.
