Racing Roundup: May 21-22

It was a quiet weekend on the Chesapeake Bay, but that doesn't mean there wasn't action happening around the country.

Closest to home, the US Sailing Match Racing Qualifier happened in Annapolis at AYC. Colin Merrick came out on top, with six points in the seven round robin races sailed. Following behind Merrick was Chris Segerblom in second and Janel Zarkowsky in third.

In Seabrook, TX, the J/70 North American Championships went off without a hitch. Julian Fernandez Neckelmann won the event with 20 points in seven races (his throw out was a 13). For Bay racers, Thom Bowen and crew took 13th with 86 points, Jenn Wulff came in 16th with 97, Gannon Troutman came in 30th with 144, and Kristen Robinson came in 36th with 183. The J/70 Worlds are coming up sooner than you'd think, and already 40 boats are signed up for the trek across the country to another hot sailing venue, San Francisco. Who's headed to the Left Coast?
