The Start of a New Back Creek Yacht Club Year

The Back Creek Yacht Club’s Holiday Brunch on December 18 finished off 2016 events at past Commodore Bob and Gail Higginbotham’s home in Annapolis. Preceded by the current Board of Governor’s final meeting, followed by a luncheon feast of Salmon, Beef Tenderloin, sides, and dessert, we again held our traditional “Yankee Gift Exchange,” allowing successive gift recipients an opportunity to exchange an unopened gift they received for anyone’s earlier gifts. The last can still be first!

Earlier on December 8 lead by Pat and Tom Bernhart, Club members attended an Irish Dinner to celebrate Annapolis’ Midnight Madness events as the town stayed open for late night shopping. Early in the New Year, three events are scheduled for the Annapolis area: first a Happy Hour January 14th, hosted by Pat and Ted Edmunds; next, a group will attend the Naval Academy basketball game January 18th lead by Academy grad, Terry Bidnick, and in early February members will attend a local performance of Oklahoma by the Annapolis Chorale.

Club events for those who travel South for the Winter will start January 5th, with a Happy Hour hosted by Bill and Geraldine Falk at their house in Stuart, Florida. The Florida Season Opener will be hosted by Bill and Laurie Crosley on January 19th, and another Happy Hour get together will be held January 22nd at John and Pam Loving’s Florida Clubhouse. Check out the Club website at www.backcreekyc.org for details and find out how to join us for many exciting events in 2017.
