Get Sailing in Annapolis

The Annapolis Sailing School has been a staple in this town for more than 50 years. When they started teaching back in 1959, they were the only adult sailing school in the country. Now, the school is proud to welcome new owners and new ideas to keep the tradition alive.

Rick and Jenny Nelson bought the school last year and are thrilled to kick off their first season on the water. Besides a multitude of introductory and advanced ASA certification courses, the Nelson's are pumped to introduce their new Evening Sail option. From Memorial Day through Labor Day weekend, on any Thursday, Friday, or Saturday, guests can enjoy a relaxing sunset sail simply for the pure enjoyment of it.

You can choose to do a private charter or meet some new friends but regardless the boats will be limited to six people to really achieve an intimate and relaxing sailing experience. Guests can help sail one of the Beneteau 37s or Hunter 36, or simply sit back and enjoy the experience.
Team SpinSheet was lucky enough to get out of the office for a bit on Monday and sail on one of the new Beneteau's with John Cosby, Chief of Operations. Despite the overcast day it was a great sail and we were pleasantly surprised at how quickly we could cast off from the docks and get out into the Bay.
Also of interest, the Nelson's are restoring Jerry Wood's original Rainbow sailboat and hope to have that out of the shop and back on the water sometime this summer (Wood's established the first in-water, all sailboat show in Annapolis in 1970).
