  • loading the boat, toilet paper in hand

splashed at 6am and ready to race at noon! still a broken motor, so we sailed off the dock (only slammed it once) and on to the mooring (entierly successfully). We got second by 20 seconds, which is great for a shakedown sail (and any sail, imo, but not really for the Pony), but annoying because we lost MINUTES accross all of our manuvers, mostly because no one reallyyyy has been flying a spin this year, and we're all a little rusty...

Was supposed to be the splashing of the Pony, but she got delayed a day, so we raced Friday night on Ghost! had a fun race with a super fun crew (including a 4 year old Delilah) and yummy snacks (candy rocks!)

It was almost windy and along with that some cold and a storm that justttt held off meant I had to find my way to CBI to get out on a wing. Had a great time, managed to stay pretty much as far upwind as I wanted, pulled off one actually good feeling gybe, and nearly froze to death, but I survived!

In order not to abandon the only non-core women's sailing sailor there, I jumped ship on my friends' boat and went with an anchient captain who didn't seem to want to let the mainsheet out... ever... we drifted and we struggled and eventually managed to convert our drift downwind into an attempt at sailing home, and made it only about 30 minutes after the others. but being out on the Charles at night is so cool

Came in pretty much dead last, but had a blast dragging Michael out on a 420 with me. He insisted on lounging with his feet up on the side, which was not the most efficient or dignified, but what can you do with a 6'5" seasickness-inclined man on a boat

  • if you zoom and squint you’ll see my little green/transparent sail in front of the white powerboat on the far shore (they were far too close for comfort far too often)

Didn't actually race, but windsurfed, since it was vaguely windy. Blessed by a few rainbows to pair with the wind and rain.

Post sail, had a teeny dock party to celebrate Charlie, CBIs longtime director retiring (and capsizing at racing into the Charles).

Grace was in town to drop a friend at the airport, so I took her racing! super windy day at first, that settled out into a beautiful day for her to take the helm on a first 420 sail. then pizza and no beers at Night Shift!

adopted a girlie there for a guided sail whose instructor bailed on her, had a blast. "I've been looking at these boats since I moved here and I finally made it out!" "oh how long have you been here" "oh three weeks"

  • the girls and Mario ready to party!
  • our bear, in honor of Bear week (and Beringer)
  • Welcome to Ptown!
  • The smoothest Sound I’ve ever seen

Another iconic New England race I got the honor of being a part of this year on Ghost: the Beringer Bowl race from Marblehead to Provincetown.

Skipped out of work around noon to run to the yacht club and get a pretty trip sailing up to Marblehead. Unfortunately, this was the last of our wind. Drifted across the start line around 7pm, and kept on drifting. I've never seen the Sound this calm. Not even three hours later, tried to tack and ended aimlessly drifting in circles. Called it a race, retired, and turned on the motor to party in PTown anyway! We were the first but not the only to retire, with no one in our class finishing, and a crazy count of 9/41 boats finishing the race. Mostly A class, but our friends in Man of War were among them! The latest finisher came in at 2pm the next day, just two hours before the party. With our motor, we were there at 2am

The rest of Saturday was party and swim (beach and pool), then a beautiful sail home on Sunday for my birthday! A candle in the morning, a whale during the trip, and a mudslide on return - who could ask for a better day!
