Had a great time sailing on a friend's 35' O'Day from South River across to Lent Idlsndcznd back. Reminded me if good times sailing out of the same marina on our Hunter 26 as devour Hunter 340 in the first decade of this century. A great time with two work friends increase sail in 10 knots apparent from 4 pm to 9 pm.

Spent 90 minutes both on Thursday and Friday trying to fix the rear nav light on Skylark, and after getting a new fuse at Smith's and re-doing all the work I did the day before, got the light to work! Then we took the boat out with a libation and anchored for a bit. Very nice evening. With nav lights again!

Had a great time today, since for the first time ever, was able to go sail alongside another identical boat. Only a dozen Tartan 245's were ever made, so it was great to tool around Round Bay with another Tartan 245 -- one with brand-new sails!

Started with 10-12 knots apparent, which was more than forecast, and quite welcome for late July on the Chesapeake. Wind stayed at least 8-10 through the end of the race, which was also remarkable. First time in a while the wind was from the NW.

Rear clearance light had failed, so replaced bulb. Couldn't tell in the sun if new bulb worked, but had boat down on lift and engine running so went for boat ride anyway!

Went out with a buddy who has a boat identical to mine, another Tartan 245. Crisp new sails, etc. A joy to pilot another boat with the same feel. Did some tweaks to the topping lift, genoa halyard, etc, and she sailed faster. Nice 6-9 knot breeze moved us along at 3-6 knots. 90 degrees out, and sunny, but the wind felt great. Nice to be out!

One of our racing fleet members said he thought a race mark was missing so we took an evening boat ride to find out. Verified that all RBSA race marks are where they're supposed to be, roughly. Also took the opportunity to remove grasses from around Lark's rudder and keel!

One of my crew wanted to introduce their partner to sailing, and I was happy to oblige. Spent 3 hours out on Round Bay in increasing winds, that started at 10 knots and built to 14. Great time!

Light Winds around 6 knots for two hours allowed us to go from A to N to A and finish at N. Won the start, remarkably, and had pretty consistent wind most of the way to N. Took a while to get spin up, since it was located on port and needs to be on starboard for N roundings, but then had a great spin run, heading across Round Bay for a bit but then jibing back to the East side, which had more wind. Ended up rounding A well ahead of Merlin and Chessie Warrior and a bit ahead of the Johnson 18, which we dueled with all the way back to N. Only one boat finsihed ahead of us -- Flagfest -- but two others corrected over us (5 cubed and Merlin), so we came in fourth. If only we'd had a more efficient spin raising at N and we might have mad a podium finish!
