It's sad that the stripe bass population in the bay is in trouble. DNR is aware of it but I really am not sure even the scientists know what to do. As an angler I see the bay. I know the early morning catch; casting in the shallows can still produce some fish but I don't do mornings. I did see a few fish caught by charter boats anchored up RIGHT on the bridge piers and either jigging from there or maybe they were live lining bait. Either way that is way beyond my skill level single handling a 20' boat around that bridge. So I trolled around like I used to so many times and would always run into a few fish - nothing. Anyways I type this as an angler; the data DNR has is correct and the fishery is in trouble. Used to be 90% of the fish is in 10% of the water, it seems like 90% of the fish are in 1% of the water - way less fish. Blue Catfish are fine, switching my gear over next season... :(
