The best sail of the season! Wind 16-20knts (mostly the latter), truly sunny skies, and right perfect temps!
Century Club: Lauren Anthone
Installed newly-repaired autopilot and took her out for a spin. Way too many circles to calibrate the compass; the resulting heading was off by over 100 degrees. That didn't stop me from sailing though!
Helped a friend return to his slip after he made it to the T-head when he discovered his stearing cables were switched. That really messes with your head!
...also makes docking solo a little scary. But arrived to kudos and fist bumps for sticking the landing!
...which sometime makes docking a bit tricky.
Another great sail out of Herring Bay and into the Chesapeake. But we saw very few sailboats out there. The wind was great though the sky was overcast and a bit cool.
Some big winds in Herring Bay!
Some big winds in Herring Bay!
Engine stalled shortly after we got the sails up. I assumed it was a fuel issue and was going to change the fuel filter till I found that I had 2 oil filters aboard rather than 1 oil and 1 fuel filter. So we just sailed out of Herring bay into the Chesapeake and back, then called SeaTow when we reached the channel leading into the marina. By that time the wind was blowing a steady 22knots. I had considered sailing down the channel to a T-head but that would have been rather tricky!
Can't protest this (see frog hat). Reached hull speed with just a heavy-weather jib and a 21 knot breeze.
Great way to celebrate the first full day of Spring.
