New guy sign off day. Congratulations Marine 2. Spent some time training and navigating in some of the the thickest fog I have ever seen. At times the visibility was down to yards. Chartplotter, radar and AIS.
Weatherman played April Fools joke. Conditions were nothing like forecasted. Stayed on the inside and get some training done for our new guy who is getting signed off on the 2nd.
Happy Easter everyone. Absolutely beautiful morning. Would have loved to take advantage of it, but I had to work.
After the tragic accident at the Francis Scott Key Bridge we were underway and onscene at the CBBT. Just in case information came to light it was more than an accident.
Gorgeous day with a West wind. Took advantage of conditions and conducted sonar training.
Blistery, choppy day on the Bay. So, I stayed on the inside.
Great foggy and rainy day to get some low visibility and radar training done. Had some friends hang out with me at the mouth of the bay.
Put 187 back in the water after having a hydraulic leak fixed on the starboard engine.
Attended the annual search and rescue forum in Hampton, VA put on by the Port of Virginia and the United States Coast Guard. Great week of training and exercises ending with an active shooter scenario aboard the Spirit of Mount Vernon. As always the port provided too notch training in real world situations that all agencies can take back to their departments to enhance their capabilities and provide benefits to the public.
