Century Club: Marco Ovando
Chartered a boat to finally visit this beautiful playground. Really liked the shoulder season. I probably would not like it during peak season.
SV Harlequin - First full weekend of the season
Command and Seamanship Training Squadron Spring dates including a DelMarVa circumnavigation. Navy 44 Sail Training Craft.
Flew into Grand Abaco to deliver a Beneteau 45 to Hampton VA. Arrived just hours before the Gale. Made upwards of 200 NM in one day (thanks to the Gulf Stream :-)
March was a mixed bag. Broke a mast support for the last Frostbite 3/9. Started Flying Scott spring practice 3/12. Cruised down to see Mt Vernon 3/19 (still yet to get to the dock). DISC sping race practice for SCOW 2/24. Cruised to the Wharf for fireworks 3/29 and Jumped into a liferaft at the Safety at Sea Seminar at the Naval Academy Offshore hands on clinic 3/30.
Helped a friend take care of his boat while he was out town. Had a great time hosting family for two weeks during Georgetown's Cruisers regatta week (two weeks really) Visited some pigs, ate tons of conch salad and went diving for treasure with the kids.
Sometimes its all about the dock work. We played with warping lines in "high" winds
loaded, crossed the bridge, floated, started, saw the 105's parked at the mark, RC abandoned, so we went home. Still fun!
strong winds for the second racing day
3rd race day was cancelled
Helped the Fredericks with delivering their Globe 41 ketch into the Bahamas. This was their first time sailing offshore with their ketch. They had hopped down the coast and joined the first January Jump with the Salty Dawgs. We spent 3 night at dock waiting for a good window and working on the boat. Then sailed to Ft lauderdale before crossing on an overnight. Spent the day at anchor in the Berries, then continued to Nassau for a night and into HighBourne Cay in the Exumas. Laura and I crossed the coral gardens on the yellow bank around noon on a hight tide. Stopped at the national park and swam the coral garden. Joined the Naval Academy courses via zoom from the islands a couple of times. Made it to the Georgetown and spent a couple of days there playing witth the cruiser community before flying back.
