I've noticed this weird phenomenon over the past week. Out on the creek there are 1000s and 1000s of these dead small black flies floating on the water. They're not gnats, but I'm not sure what they are exactly. It’s as if the entire population was flying over the creek and said, “OK, on the count of 3, everyone fly into the water, Ready, one…two…thr…. Oh wait, we can’t swim….” You’d think the fish would be having a field day but I’ve yet to see a fish trying to eat any of them. They are oddly arranged in patches around the creek, current maybe? Well, I’d rather have them be stiffs, than be buzzing about my head.
