The wool hats are back. It was cold today! The wind direction was mostly NNE 15-20 knots. We were closed hauled on starboard tack coming out of our anchorage. Then as the Pungo River turned east, we tacked on to port with a close reach doing 7 knots with a double reef in the jib, no mainsail and no engine. As our direction turned NE, we furled the sails and traversed the 20 nm Alligator-Pungo canal against the current. The stretch down the Alligator River was nose into the wind. We arrived at our destination 10 hours after our 7 am departure. Our final destination never felt so good. Beef stew and three rounds of Rummikub topped off the evening. No star gazing this evening!

Anchorage: Little Alligator River

Distance today: 56 nm
