Out on the river with the rig down
Out for a sail on Dire Straits this evening. Great, breezy conditions, especially as I sailed south of Broome's Island, but as I was fully powered up on an upwind leg I saw the sail come crashing down! The knot on the upper spar, which I hadn't checked since tying it a couple months ago, worked itself loose and dropped the sail. No matter, I re-tied it and kept going. In the meantime the wind backed way off and I sailed a leisurely downwind leg home. All in a day's learning, and a good reminder to check on details.
