  • Oh, isn't this nice?
  • Welcome to the splash zone
  • Good thing our scuppers work

Kelly, Zack, Tony, and I took a Sonar out to get some practice in strong winds (forecast had gusts up to 30 knots). Given the forecast, we originally planned to stay close to Fort McHenry and finish relatively early. However, on our way out, winds were steady around 10 knots, which lulled us into a false sense of security. We continued all the way out to the Key Bridge. When we turned around, we soon discovered that the winds had increased to 15-20 knots, gusting into the mid-20's, with 1-2' waves coming toward us. The entire boat quickly became a splash zone, but we managed to beat our way back to our dock on time without incident, though we did get quite wet.
