It’s hard to describe the feeling of being out on the water with 17 (!) boats captained and crewed exclusively by badass sailors who also happen to be women. The camaraderie of a swimming postponement as we waited for wind followed by a pleasantly grueling 2 races where we had to fight as a team for every tenth of a knot was such a joy.
It was my first time on how and I did a lot of reading and learned a lot of fun things to prepare. I learned that you can connect the ripples into a horizontal line and the wind direction is perpendicular to that.
I learned a neat technique for light wind where you grab the clew and figure out by hand where the Genoa should be and then adjust the lines and jib car accordingly.
