We have practiced with our new Sailmon max to ping the line and used it to hit this pursuit start within 4 second of our start time rolling at hull speed. We cruise from there passing the four boats in front of us and never letting anyone catch us. This was a waterline boat speed race with few tacks. This winter, I learned heavy air techniques from a North sails J/24 webinar with Will Wells. He taught me to ease the genoa to the lifelines when overpowered, keep the main trimmed, feathe, keep the boat flat and the boat accelerates and climbs. It is really cool and really fast. I no longer fumpband flog my main. Next we sailed a great tight reach under spinnaker burning down when we heeled up. The end result is that we beat the scratch boat in the fleet by 0.25 nm. 1st in class 1st over all. "Smok-in" boats speed. I think my rudder is still smoldering. What a great way to end the 2020 season.
