For the summer sailstice we lead a Pirates and Mermaids cruise for kid boats in the HHSA!

Our first “kids cruise” in years was absolutely a raging success. After a costumed lunch at Pirate’s Cove and a successful raft up the kids immediately suited up and jumped in to the bay. After a visit to a deserted island they used their water guns to protect us from marauding pirates. After they fended off the invaders a hunt commenced for gold doubloons which were then traded in for prizes they played with until dark. Everyone involved is already making plans for next year!

Some of our members were understandably concerned about the anticipated hot weather and decided to join us for our lunch at Pirate’s Cove via auto rather than boat. We so enjoyed their company and it was a great example of the benefits of incorporating our land cruisers into our weekend cruising plans. Some of our participants love the Rhode River for its peaceful return to nature and preferred to gather nearby rather than directly in the midst of our youthful chaos. Everyone involved had an amazing time in their own way. I had also heard that typically on HHSA cruises the boats raft up for happy hour and then separate to anchor for the night. However we didn’t want the fun to stop and the winds were lower than predicted so we let out more chain and stayed rafted up overnight. We then got to enjoy breakfast burritos and French press coffee in the morning. There are as many ways to cruise as there are cruisers, and that’s a beautiful thing.
