Approaching DMG Mori IMOCA when returning from a run to the container
Meeting one of my offshore idols, Pip Hare!
I had an incredible opportunity made possible by The Magenta Project to work with a professional IMOCA sailing team, DMG Mori Sailing Team, as they prepared for the Route du Rhum Race in Saint Malo, France. This time I was traveling to France for MYSELF and it was incredible. I was able to work with the technical team prepping the boat, making soft shackles, some carbonfiber work, worked on the foil cases, and got to know the team members and skipper. It was something I will never forget! My time on the water in France had to do with using the team rib to go back and forth from the IMOCA to the work container. And my final day, a nice harbor tour of the Ultims at moor before the delayed start.
I also had the incredible opportunity to meet an idol of mine, Pip Hare and take a tour of her IMOCA Medallia. She is incredibly sweet, determined, and strong. It was so cool to be able to talk with her and hear more about the successes and challenges she faces as a female in the male dominated IMOCA class.
