Out on Barba Roja for a sail on the winter solstice. Conditions started out light so we headed for the Bay to find some breeze. Conditions quickly turned quite gusty, and we rolled in some headsail to manage the conditions. We turned around after a bit and beat up towards the bridge. When we got there, we encountered several simultaneous problems and had to kick the motor on to avoid clipping a piling. Afterwards, we enjoyed a leisurely sail home. A great way to get some fresh air and sunshine on a cold day despite a bit of calamity in the process.
