The Erie Canal locks are an absolute wonder! It's very cool to see how they work, despite the fact that the original Canal dates back to 1825, believe it or not. We traversed the first seven locks on July 1, and then stopped at the town of Scotia, New York (right outside of Schenectady) for the night.  We got an early start the next morning and cruised up through many more locks to the cute town of Little Falls, New York. We spent a couple of days there, touring around, doing some maintenance, and getting some provisions. We left there on the morning of July 4 and headed to Oneida Lake, where we anchored not far from Sylvan Beach. It was a beautiful night for all the fireworks that could be seen around the lake! Today, July 5, we are headed to the other side of the lake to Brewerton, New York. There, we plan to spend a couple of days checking the place out, getting some assistance from the boat yard mechanic there, and planning the next couple of weeks of our trip.
