With our Gov Cup departure on the books mere hours later and a strong desire not to break anything on the boat, we decided to sail a very conservative race with the #3 up in solid #1 conditions. The boat certainly points far better with the small sail, but just doesn't have the horsepower to get going in the light stuff. 6th of 8 so not really our best effort.
On account of some coming weather Thursday afternoon, we opted for an overnight delivery for this year's Gov Cup. We left Solomons a little before 11pm, and enjoyed steady, moderate breeze all the way up the Bay. We sailed a spinnaker from Drum Point all the way past Sandy Point Shoal light, got to go under the Bay Bridge for the first time, and saw several passing ships, including a cruise ship, up close. An enjoyable, relaxing trip before the big event tomorrow.
