The goal of the Kent Island Racing Fleet (KIRF) is to provide local, fun sailboat racing that caters to both experienced and novice sailors with opportunities for both regular and occasional participation.
The organization places an emphasis on having fun. At our after-race social Beer & Bite gatherings, we encourage those who are new to racing with healthy critique, and we pillory the old salts with jests to keep the fun component alive.
We have 20 Wednesday night races on our schedule that take place on the Chester River and Prospect Bay. These are split into two trophy series, which helps those who cannot participate every week to have something to aim for. We also have some great weekend events, and a frostbite series.
