After bacon and eggs, fruit and muffin breakfast, we departed the marina at 9 am. Sunny skies with temperatures around 60 degrees rising to the low 70s by mid afternoon. The winds varied in direction with wind speeds up to 10 knots. There was plenty of motor sailing opportunity. In fact, it was so pleasant that we passed up our original destination of Eastman Creek and went the extra 12 nm to Slade Creek across the Pamlico River. We traveled the 55 nm in 9.5 hours. The evening was topped off by grilled chicken with wine. Then more wine and brownies in the cockpit as the stars came out. We surmised that the object that appeared to be a planet but then was observed to be moving must be the international space station.

Anchorage: Slade Creek

Distance: 55 nm

Distance to date: 896 nm
