Three great days of sailing in July in the place and legacy of Screwpile.
The Friday distance race was met with almost no wind at the start, and we carefully bobbed across the line in just enough breeze to move the boat. The wind filled nicely as we went, but long legs that favored the asymmetric boats cost us time, and we ultimately ended up in dead last on the day.
Saturday was met with more breeze, and with a very full boat we were more competitive, squeaking out a solid second.
Sunday started with good breeze in the Bay, and with Chris calling tactics we were as sharp as ever. We found light conditions once we entered the river, and by the second to last leg we were in a tacking duel with Diablo. They ultimately had us at the penultimate mark, but a decision to tack away and favorable breeze on our side of the course allowed us to ghost in a mere 11 seconds before they did. With the Friday race scored separately, a 2-1 to Diablo's 1-2 gave us a class win. Great to finally put it together during SMSA's signature event!
