What a wonderful summer it’s been! Catalina Fleet 3 has had two land based events hosted by Catnip and Dreamcatcher. How lucky are we to have members with homes on the water. Both have beautiful settings and attendance is from land or sea. A huge thank you to both couples for hosting these events!
Then in September we will have multiple events. Come raft up in Shaw Bay the weekend after Labor Day and listen to them Eastport Oyster Boys on Saturday, September 7. The Frey’s will be our hosts on Shaw Bay. On the weekend of September 20-22, the Hershey’s are hosting a long weekend event that will include a baseball game in Baltimore. We are planning to attend and are bringing guests with us for that weekend. I am looking forward to dinner in Little Italy Saturday evening!
September 28will be the Oktoberfest event with CCYC. This will be our third year to do this combined event and it is quite an event. Lots of food and good times with fellow Catalina sailors. As we did last year, we will begin the Liar’s Cruise right from this event and stay out for a week. The cruise destinations will be determined at a later date.
We will be looking for volunteers to staff the Catalina Owner’s booth during the Sailboat Show this year. Max Munger is turning over the reins and hopefully we will step up and do the job! Let us know if you are interested. We will be sending an email when the time gets closer looking for volunteers for 4 hour shifts. More details will follow on this, but please think about volunteering. It’s good to see old friends that always seem to be stopping by.
Hopefully we can even squeeze in some fall sailing if the weather permits. As always, monitor VHF channel 72 and give a shout out for fellow Fleet 3 members.
