Spring Fling, Change of Watch Ball, and Cruising

BCYCOver 25 members of the Club (Back Creek Yacht Club  backcreekyc.org)met on April 11th at Patti and Bob Bartlet’s house overlooking Saltworks Creek off the Severn River for its “Spring Fling” signaling the upcoming start of its active boating season.

Members then attended the annual croquet match between the Naval Academy and St. Johns College on April 18th enjoying a lunch hosted by outgoing and incoming Commodores, Bill & Karen Kranzer and Bob & Gail Higginbotham, while rooting on their favorite team.

Next on the agenda is the Club’s "Spring Has Sprung," 13th Annual “Change of Watch” Ball on May 2nd. New Members to the Club will be celebrated along with the Club’s new Flag Officers and Governors. It will be held at the Oyster Cove Clubhouse in Grasonville, MD. Dancing will be to “Tiki and the Barbarians.”

A Silent Auction also will be held. The Club’s Spring Cruise, following a Cruise Captain’s briefing on May 9, will start May 23rd with the Club sailing to St. Helena Island in the Severn. Next stops will be the West and Rhode Rivers, the Miles River Yacht Club adjacent to St. Michaels, then Waterhole Cove, the Tred Avon Yacht Club in Oxford, and concluding May 30th at Tilghman Island.

A Fall Southern Bay, Vagabond Cruise will take place August 22nd through September 4th. Come join us for these and other events. Check for details at BackCreekYC.org.
