The Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race

Wow!  Bennu participated in the new inaugural invitational non-schooner class for the Great Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race!  It exceeded expectations.  Very light winds, barely made the offset mark at the start, and then just focused on keeping the boat moving down the bay.  We were able to pick off some of the boats that started 20 minutes ahead of us, but couldn't touch Woodwind which horizon jobbed the whole fleet.  Winds kicked up finally around the Potomac , and we could feel the big boats behind us gaining steam and closing in.  We managed to keep ahead though, even after blowing out our spinnaker, and were 2nd across the finish line at Thimble Shoals after Woodwind, and actually corrected to first over the whole combined fleet!   As a guest boat (non-schooner) we're not eligible for any of the trophies, no biggie because the experience and being able to participate was our biggest reward.
