Racing Roundup June 7-9

Windy days on the Bay and beyond... here's your racing roundup for the weekend of June 7-9 on the Chesapeake and offshore to Newport.

Annapolis to Newport Race

Laurent Givry's Beneteau Figaro 3 La Defonse was the first to finish the A2N off Newport at 9:30 this morning.

After two windy starts, Friday (slower boats) and Saturday (fast ones) , the biennial Annapolis to Newport Race, hosted by Annapolis Yacht Club, was under way down the Bay… yet the ocean leg brought lumpy conditions, one dismasting (the Mills 68 Prospector—no one was hurt), and a few others who had to drop out due to seasickness or mechanical failures.

Prospector lost its rig early on Sunday morning. No one was injured. Photo Prospector Sailing Instagram

The rest of the competitors carried on and can be tracked here. Find Al Schreitmueller’s photos of the A2N Friday start here and below.
