On the Chesapeake Bay, racing sailors made the most of the last weekend of September—from Havre de Grace all the way down to Virginia Beach, including a lot of big boat action off Annapolis. AYC Doublehanded Distance Race

Annapolis Yacht Club (AYC) hosted its first ever Doublehanded Distance Race from noon Saturday through noon on Sunday. NEPTUNE’S ATLANTIC REGATTA

This annual fall regatta, administered by Broad Bay Sailing Association in conjunction with the VAB Neptune Festival, was blessed with gentle yet very “raceable”  breezes throughout the pursuit start Saturday morning at the mouth of Little Creek (Norfolk). Even though the breeze waned a bit, there was enough to fly spinnakers down the oceanfront shoreline, almost to the finish line. 

Twenty (20) of the twenty-two (22) entered raced and of those, 18 finished.
