The Boomerang Race

Sixty-three boats enjoyed amazing July conditions and great breeze for the second annual Eastport Yacht Club Boomerang Race, a 50-mile overnight race starting from and boomeranging back to EYC. Following the race and breakfast at the club, many returned home for a nap and came back for a festive waterfront party for the whole family with live music, face-painting, balloon-making and awards on a sunny Sunday. This race is a hit and is here to stay, so put it on your calendar for 2018!

East of Maui & Eastport YC SUP Race

East of Maui EYC SUP Race 2017. Photo by Lexi Pline/ SpinSheet

What a great morning, July 8, for the sixth annual East of Maui and Eastport YC SUP Race. One hundred fifty-two racers—a record!—showed up to paddle a 7-mile long course (from EYC to Tolly Point), 3-mile short course, or 1-mile beginner course and then returned to the club for an awards party with great food and live music. For the first time in the race's history, there were some protests due to mark-rounding confusion (something we sailors know all too well); at party time, organizers were sorting the issues. We will let you know if there are changes...  Here is a link to the East of Maui EYC SUP Race results. Below are a sampling of photos.
