5 Things: August 23-25

I'm not the type of person to  say "TGIF!" I know it's been said on this blog before; that was the interns writing. They have yet to be hardened by the reality of a true work week. To me, saying "Aren't you so happy it's Friday?" is kind of the same as saying "Somebody has a case of the Mondays..." which, you know, induces rage. So I try to avoid both.

Regardless, there's plenty to be excited about this weekend. You can either destroy your liver or your legs if you try hard enough. There's a regatta that does good things for the community, and a kayak rally that will get you on your boat and out of Spa Creek. What are you waiting for? Monday will be here soon enough, so get out there.

DSC_0160 copy1. The Boatyard Bar & Grill Regatta for CRAB is not just going to be about good sailing; it's going to be a great party. Yes, we're a sponsor, but can you blame us? Why are YOU sponsoring it? The weather tomorrow is going to be perfect: sunny and 81 degrees, with winds out of the ESE at 5-10. Doesn't that sound like perfect sailing around here? And hey - if you didn't get a ride, we'll see you at the party from 5-8 in EYC's parking lot and is $10 for non racers. Look for us: we'll be the ones trying to take your picture.

2. Kegs and Corks is in its second year after a bang-up showing in 2012. The international beer and wine festival happens at Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds, and tickets are only $25 and allow you to sample beer and wine from around the world. From the looks of last year's party, people had more than a lot of fun.

3. Are you a runner? Hopefully you signed up for the Annapolis 10-Miler because everyone else did! Just know that if you are going to be traveling around town on Sunday between 7 and 10 a.m., traffic will be a bear. Check out the site to find alternate routes. Good luck to the runners.

4. In St. Michaels, there's a kayak and SUP rallyDSC_0040 copy going on. Start at the Chesapeake Yacht Club and paddle 2.5 miles to the tip of Tilghman Island for lunch at the Black Walnut Inn. Transportation brings you back to the club. It's a good time, and it benefits Tilghman Area Youth.

5. The Tour and Crab Feast at J.M. Clayton Seafood Co. is on Saturday. It's a great way to see what actually goes into crabbing on the Eastern Shore, and we recommend a trip out there regardless. It's $45 and you're sure to eat more crabs than you ever would anywhere else. They're straight off the boat, too, so be ready for an epic meal.
