John, MaryLou, Rolla and i ventured out on a chilly Wednesday to practice our skills.
Century Club: Susan StGeorge
A last minute invitation to sail got me running for the boat! It was a beautiful day to sail around the Patuxent River with Mary Lou, Rolla and John.
Began the Frostbite series on Barbara Roja. Winds were strong the whole way to the bridge and back. Emergency on another boat due to motor failure and injured sailor. We took on the injured and Joe and I helped to boat sail back to a safe place on the pier.
Kayaked with two friends. Saw 2 spoon bills, king fisher, blue herons, stork, cardinal, alligators, turtles and other birds we could not identify.
Managed to find the boat at the club. Started out very calm. Once on the other side of the island the wind picked up the the captain insisted on raising the spin. Exciting! Terrifying!
I can't think of a better way to spend the morning. I managed to convince the captain of Kyle-Michelle to let me join them for today's oyster harvest. They lent me some boots and gloves and I dove into the task of culling. It was a beautiful day on the water!
The weather cooperated so that I could get one more day in of kayaking. No wind provided a pleasant paddle across St George Creek and back.
A warm 70 degree day to kayak across st George Creek. No wind and lots of sun. The fish were jumping.
2nd frostbite race. The weather report called for very gusty winds so we elected to sail non spin. Mistake!
Winds 7-8 with gusts up to 13. It was a quick trip. Soloof course.
