We didn't have much time before sunset, but Kelly, David, and I managed to sail the Friday Night Fun Race course out to Fort McHenry and back.
Century Club: Richard Eggert
Kelly, Jen, and I started rigging a J/22 the moment the rain stopped, and we sailed out to the Key Bridge and back. Winds were initially around 10 knots, but picked up to 15-20 knots (a few times gusting as much as 22 knots) part of the way back, so we hove-to and reefed, then finished the trip.
After the work party to get the DSC boats ready for the new season, I sailed with Bhavani and her son Arjun out to the last channel marker before the Key Bridge and back, stopping near Canton on the way back to practice some overboard drills. Winds were around 10 knots for most of the trip, with temperatures around 80.
Some members of our Thursday Night Racing team got together Friday night for some spinnaker practice in very light and patchy winds.
I had three hours of spinnaker practice with the Thursday Night Racing team in the late morning/early afternoon, then another four hours of sailing out to the Key Bridge and back in 70-degree weather and Force 3-4 winds with Kelly C., Ben H., and Andrew M.
I spent three hours practicing single-handing, taking turns with Zack G. I sailed us out to Fort McHenry, and he sailed us back, then we practiced docking. We also got in some POB drills.
Sailed out from DSC to the Key Bridge and back with Rebekah B. and Josh F. in steady force 4 winds. It was a lovely day.
I used it as the basis of a tutorial on heaving-to: https://youtu.be/kjRPBI3lynQ
Sailed out to the Key Bridge and back with Zack G. and Robert C. under Force 4-5 winds with temperatures in the 50s. We got a little wet.
Sailed to remnants of the Key Bridge and back with Kelly C. and Jen K., then recorded a few practice dockings for education purposes.
Frostbite racing, L2's in front of DSC, Robert G. and I vs. Zack G, Rebekah B., and James B.
