Point to Point Pursuit Race from the start at Little Creek Entrance Buoy through Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, to the finiah line just off the beach at 24th Street in Virginia Beach, about a 15 NM race. The winds were strong and forecast to be 18-21, gusts to 29 swells 2-3m. No big deal for the first leg as the CBBT islands blocked the wind and seas to some extent, and then once through CBBT channel it was a broad race to dead downwind to the finish line. The problem was after the finish, it took 4 hours to complete the race, and about 71/2 hours to sail back through CBBT to Hampton. It was a bumpy and wet ride.

Immediately followed Tropical Storm Ophelia's visit to Chesapeake Bay, started off with great wind, then went down to 6-8 knots by the last leg. Great day for a sail, though!
RAce was abandoned when the winf failed to show up. However, we got in some spinnakker training in the light winds that finally began to fill in after the race was called.
The three Armed Services represented by OPCYC (Army), NNSA (Navy) and Air Force (LYC) vie for a perpetual trophy that has been condcted for over thirty five years. Thisn year (as with last year), Navy took the trophy home.
Great evening of sailing
