Another fine morning for a row. It is mid August so in a few weeks it may start to be a little cold for a morning row in shorts and a t-shirt.

August made it time for my annual cruise with my college roommate/fraternity brothers. The four of us have been doing this at least once a year since 1992.
This trip took us to Baltimore for a ballgame (rained out), to Georgetown MD, (Skipjack Cove), to Deale (Herrington North) to Annapolis (home) in time to drive into DC for a Nats ballgame (no rain).
I could fast walk. I could ride my bike. I could row. On a morning like this, yes it is hot and humid It also features clear blue skys and light wind. So, I row!
Five Back Coves gathered at Spring Cove Marina in Solomons. Nice to meet some new folks.
Hot out there, even at 8:00am. Did a morning row rahter than a fast walk today. I think it is more of a workout!
after today's row I finally got the leather protection on the oars
It has been hot at he end of July and August opens no different. We cruised to the Chesapeake Yacht Club (CYC) this weekend with our fellow Annapolis Yacht Club cruising group members. Much of the day was spent by their pool, given the heat. It was nice to have.
Besides the pool CYC has $5M invested in new floating docks. The food service is good as well. All in, it is a great destination.
Back from spending most of July on the boat up north. Nice to be back on the creek for a morning row.
The second and third weeks of our Long Island Sound cruise found us making ten port calls in the Sound. We made three in Connecticut and seven along the north shore of Long Island.
With planning begining back in February, we began our three week cruise to Long Island Sound on Sunday July 3. We made stops in Cape May, Manasquan NJ, Oyster Bay, Port Jefferson, Sag Harbor, Shelter Island and Greenport (all New York). The next stops are in Connecticut as we complete a circumnavigation of Long Island Sound and then turn back south to the Chesapeake.
