Spent Saturday prepping boat for the trip to Cape Charles underway on Sunday with a nice down-wind ride over. A great party on the afternoon of the 4th and fireworks over Cape Charles marina. Returned to NOB on Wednesday with light wind motor-sailing.
Instead of racing, Skymark was out for an evening cruise with Andrew Perry and his new-to-sailing Wife, Kayla, around Willoughby Bay. Winds were strong enough to really get some nice runs in but not too exciting. Picked up mark left over from previous week's race.
Short on crew so signed up for Cruising fleet for this 7 nm race off Buckroe Beach (Yankee Point). A great day of good winds with no chop and we did well; fiinshed 5 of 10 in non-spin as they moved us into that group since we were the only Cruisier. Took 2nd place in slower NS group!
Picked correst tack for first leg and ran away from all. However, Oh SHeet gained considerably on the off-wind leg to where we were close all the way from the B mark to the finish. Just managed a quick tack at the line taht put us in first by 2 seconds! Patrick and WIll as regulars.
