After returning from Maine, went sailing the next day with my daughter who was home for the weekned from Dallas TX. Friday was very light air so we ran back down the boat the next day and we had perfect wind!
Helped crew for a boat returning from the Salty Dogs Down East Rally. Flew to Rockport and boarded my frineds 48' Oceanis "Luffin Life" to help return back to Rock Hall.
Met up with boat in Camden, ME on 7/18, left the next morning to sail to Provinceton MA, headed for Cape Cop Canal, destination Judith Point RI where we anchored overnight, then proceeded to Port Jeff, Manhasset Bay, down East River to Cape May, De river through C&D Canal back to RH; three lay days.
My first coastal Sailing experience!
One of my favorite races! We won this race last year but didnt do as well this year. Were greeted with the usual Baltimore threatening storm! Got a slip, stayed overnight and motor sailed the boat back to Rock Hall the next day.
Equestrian Sail Day! My riding friends got off their high horses for a sail yesterday. Sailed conservatively as winds were 11-14; not sure if I’d have to reef or not. But hit 7.2kts just on the jib downwind. As predicted wind lessened significantly down to 5kts and we put up the main for the return windward leg. Good practice for me to manage sails and not just driving.
A few of us took the boat for a sail Saturday taking advantage of the perfect wind to get more acquantied with the new sails. I handed over the helm to sit on the low side to take photos of a fellow club boater.
Sails were delivered and the old ones taken down. Had to take off the fastener track cars fromthe old sail and put on the new one. Had to hoist the main and the jib and rerig everything.
Volunteered my boat and a crew member to host some young sea cadets for an annual event held at Spring Cove Marina. An all day event aimed at introducing youth to sailing. I delvered my boat to the marina, volunteered one of my crew (merchant marine) to take them out of a sail that day. I helped kick off the event by introducing myself and sharing my sailing experience with the attendee's. Made some connections for possible future crew.
Got 3rd place in CRCA fleet, very fast race, got in just before dusk and were greeted by PSA breakfast buffet, stayed overnight at the lovely PSA Marina sailed back the next day.
Sailed out with two crew members on Memorial Day weekend for a practice race with local Rock Hall Competitor.
